The Health Service Executive has produced a seminal report Planning for Health – Trends and Priorities to inform Health Service Planning 2017. The report aims to build a robust evidence-base to support service planning in the Irish health service. The report found that a lack of suitable data is hampering the health service in prioritizing health inequalities within service delivery. It states “this is a data gap that needs to be addressed immediately to initiate a meaningful commitment to addressing health inequalities within our Health Service”. Summary reports on demography, health status, lifestyle, immunization and screening and on primary care are also available.
