The European Commission has launched a portal of best and good practices in health promotion and non-communicable disease prevention identified during Joint Action projects across the EU region. Each practice has met the criteria adopted by the Steering Group on Prevention and Promotion.
IPH has been involved in three Joint Actions that are found in this portal; JANPA, CHRODIS and CHRODIS+. The IPH research and information team concluded their work in JANPA in 2017, identifying the human and economic cost of childhood obesity. IPH Director of Research, Professor Kevin Balanda, presented some findings from Work Package 4 at the final conference, in Paris on 24 November 2017. This presentation can be found here.
Prior to CHRODIS+, CHRODIS (2014-2017) focused on health promotion and primary prevention as well as diabetes and multi-morbid chronic conditions. In this Joint Action, examples of good practice were identified resulting in a country report. One of these examples was Active School Flag. Now, as part of CHRODIS+, IPH and HSE are facilitating the transfer of Active School Flag to Member States.
