2017 marks the 15th World Suicide Prevention Day. World Suicide Prevention Day is observed on September 10 each year to promote worldwide action to prevent suicides. World Suicide Prevention Day gives organisations, government agencies and individuals an opportunity to promote awareness about suicide, mental illnesses associated with suicide, as well as suicide prevention.
- IPH welcomes the commitment to address inequalities in suicide rate in Northern Ireland. Those living in the most deprived communities experience a greater level of poorer physical and mental ill health coupled with difficult and challenging social circumstances. These and other factors contribute to an increased risk of suicide.
